What is Translation Memory (TM)?

A database of previously translated sentence pairs, reused so identical or similar text is never paid for or translated twice.

In more depth

Transxlate's local string table acts as a translation memory: each unique sentence is translated once, stored in your database, then served free forever.

Why it matters for your website

Understanding Translation Memory (TM) helps you make better decisions when taking a WordPress site multilingual — from choosing URL structures and engines to controlling costs. Transxlate handles the mechanics (language URLs, lang attributes, caching, hreflang on Pro) so terms like this become settings, not engineering projects.
